When Richard and Alis Arrowood founded Arrowood Vineyards & Winery in 1986, their goal was to produce hand-made wines that showcased the diverse soils and varying microclimates of Sonoma County. By that time Richard had already established himself as one of the state’s top winemakers. He helped pioneer vineyard-designate bottlings in California and has been a long-time proponent of sustainable farming techniques. Since 2006, Arrowood’s estate vineyard and several of the winery’s contracted vineyards have been certied organic. Richard’s strong relationships with a number of top growers, the winery harvests grapes from the best hillside, mountain and maritime-inuenced vineyards throughout Sonoma County.
Arrowood is 100% Sonoma. Since 1986, have been producing high-character wines from sustainably and organically farmed vineyards west of the Mayacamas Ridge. Winery is located in the historic Sonoma Valley, a small sub-appellation in the heart of the county. Often described as a warm pocket in a cool region, this rolling AVA is particularly well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, signature wine.
