The 2009 vintage of Deep Sea Red is 89.4% Syrah, 4.8% Lagrein, 2.6% Petite Syrah and a mere 1.6% Merlot. It is an Italian grape from the Trentino-Alto Adige region that is made into deep rich reds. The ethereal 'fog-like wave' on the label references the focus of Deep Sea wines showcasing the impact of this natural cooling on some of California's most recognized maritime appellations. Nice creamy notes lead and are reminiscent of a blackberry cobbler. Later a light leathery note. Rich attack and lengthy flavors follow. Ample fine tannins round out the finish nicely. Deep Sea Red is signature, proprietary red blend. Composed of five grape varieties, this wine shows complex fruit and earth flavors supported by subtle French Oak Integration. A Family Favorite.
